Tesla’s Giga Berlin: A Colorful Production Powerhouse

Tesla’s Giga Berlin plant has achieved a significant and vibrant milestone with the production of its Model Y in all five offered colors, including the latest addition of Deep Blue Metallic. This achievement comes just 15 months after the factory began its operations.

The California-based electric car maker’s German factory continues to surge ahead in production capabilities. Already, Giga Berlin is meeting its goal of manufacturing 10,000 Model Ys per week and has surpassed the impressive annual milestone of 250,000 vehicles. Now, it sets its sights on an ambitious new goal: scaling up production to half a million units annually.

As Tesla accelerates production, it’s simultaneously broadening the spectrum of color options for its vehicles. Outfitted with an advanced Paint Shop, Giga Berlin utilizes top-of-the-line technology to apply hues. The facility began production with the basic shades of Solid Black and Pearl White Multi-Coat, subsequently adding Quicksilver and Midnight Cherry Red to its palette. Yet, the spectrum was not complete.

Tesla’s color offerings consist of five unique shades, with Deep Blue Metallic being the final hue introduced at Giga Berlin. In May, increasing sightings of Blue Model Ys around the factory reportedly signaled the commencement of production in this color. By June, it was apparent that the Model Y Performance, not produced by Giga Shanghai for the European market, was rolling off the production line in Berlin.

In just over a year, Tesla’s Giga Berlin has successfully initiated production of all five colors offered by the company. Now, with a full color spectrum at its disposal, the factory’s focus sharpens on ramping up production. As we move towards the end of 2023, Tesla anticipates its German plant will be capable of producing a staggering 500,000 vehicles per year. This demonstrates Tesla’s commitment to continuous growth and innovation in the global electric vehicle market.
