Kia Gears Up with a New Electric Crossover: The EV4
Kia is no stranger to electric vehicles, and they’re adding another jewel to their crown. Fresh spy photos, shared by Autoblog, have captured the latest addition to Kia’s electric lineup – the EV4. Despite the car being wrapped in camouflage, it unmistakably fits into Kia’s EV crossover family.
It’s worth noting, “The Kia EV6 and EV9 will be joined by more electric models in the not-too-distant future.” The EV4 isn’t Kia’s first dance in the electric arena. Remember the Soul EV? That was Kia’s early foray into electric cars. Now, with Hyundai, its sister company, preparing to replace its Kona Electric, we might see the EV4 borrowing some elements from Hyundai’s collection.
It’s speculated that the EV4 will sport two battery options. The bigger one, a 64.8 kWh battery, is “good for 260 miles of range in the Kona, Hyundai says”, while the smaller 48.6 kWh battery is expected to last 197 miles. There’s a matching motor for each: the larger one boasting 201 horsepower and the smaller one with 133 horsepower. Both, however, offer 188 pound-feet of torque.
While current trends might hint at a front-wheel-drive setup, it’s too soon to dismiss other possibilities. Kia’s keeping mum on the EV4’s details, but with test models hitting the streets, an official announcement seems on the horizon.
For those eagerly awaiting more on Kia’s EV4, keep an ear out. More juicy details are bound to emerge soon!
