Lucid Motors recently held an event at the Henry Ford Museum, putting its electric vehicles in the spotlight against a backdrop of automotive history. The showcase featured the Lucid Air sedan and the upcoming Lucid Gravity SUV, as reported by Lucid Motors on X.
Lucid’s Electric Lineup
The star of the show was undoubtedly the Lucid Air, the company’s flagship luxury EV that’s been turning heads since its 2021 debut. But it wasn’t alone – the Gravity SUV, set to hit production lines later this year, also made an appearance.
Gravity’s Pull
While details were sparse, the Gravity SUV is generating serious buzz. It’s slated to offer:
- A whopping 440+ mile range
- Seating for up to seven adults
- NACS charging compatibility (hello, Supercharger network!)
- 0-60 in under 3.5 seconds (because why not?)
And get this – they’re aiming for a starting price under $80k. Not exactly pocket change, but for a luxury electric SUV? That’s competitive.
Lucid’s Tech Push
This event follows Lucid’s recent Technology & Manufacturing Day, where they dropped some pretty big news:
- They’ve already delivered more cars in 2024 than all of 2023 (and it’s only September!)
- A next-gen drive unit called Atlas is in the works
- A midsize EV platform is coming, with production kicking off in 2026
EVXL’s Take
Lucid’s choice to showcase at the Henry Ford Museum is pretty clever. It’s a nod to automotive history while firmly planting their flag in the electric future. This event, coupled with their recent tech announcements, shows Lucid’s not just dreaming big – they’re executing.
Looking at the broader EV landscape, Lucid’s pushing hard to carve out their niche in the luxury segment. Their focus on range and charging tech puts them in direct competition with the likes of Tesla and BMW. It’ll be interesting to see how they stack up as more of their vehicles hit the roads.
