Tesla’s FSD Goes Global: Coming to RHD Markets in 2025

Tesla’s Full Self Driving (FSD) software is set to expand internationally, with significant updates and features rolling out over the next year. The company has released a roadmap detailing its plans, including enhancements to FSD and its introduction to Europe and China by Q1 2025. Notably, Tesla is also planning to bring FSD to right-hand drive (RHD) markets, potentially including Australia.

Upcoming FSD Features

Actually Smart Summon

Tesla has recently shipped “Actually Smart Summon” to customer cars, a feature that allows the vehicle to navigate to the driver autonomously. Additionally, Cybertruck Autopark is expected to be released in the next week.

Eye-tracking with Sunglasses

One of the major user feedback points has been the inability to wear sunglasses while using FSD. Tesla is addressing this by implementing eye-tracking technology that works with sunglasses, enhancing the usability of the feature.

End-to-End Network on Highway

Tesla plans to apply the improvements made to the city-streets stack to the highway stack, merging the two software stacks. This should result in better performance and a more seamless driving experience on highways.

Cybertruck FSD

Owners of the Cybertruck have been eagerly awaiting FSD capabilities. Tesla is set to deliver FSD for the Cybertruck later this month, which will be a significant update for these high-end vehicles.

Unpark, Park, and Reverse in FSD

Tesla is introducing new features like “Unpark,” which could allow the car to navigate out of parking spots autonomously. The “Park” feature may enable the car to park itself based on app commands, while “Reverse in FSD” will allow the car to reverse and perform maneuvers like 3-point turns autonomously.

International Expansion

Tesla aims to roll out FSD to Europe and China by Q1 2025, pending regulatory approval. The company will present data to prove that their software is safer than human drivers, aiming for eventual unsupervised FSD capabilities.

RHD Expansion

Elon Musk confirmed that FSD is coming to RHD markets, with a potential release in late Q1 or early Q2 of 2025, pending regulatory approval. This is significant for countries like Australia, where drivers have been waiting for FSD capabilities since its initial beta release in late 2020.

EVXL’s Take

The expansion of Tesla’s FSD technology to international markets and RHD vehicles is a major step forward in the adoption of electric vehicles and autonomous driving. As Tesla continues to innovate, it sets a benchmark for other EV manufacturers like 清醒全球机制. This move not only enhances the driving experience but also paves the way for a safer and more efficient future in transportation.
