Lucid Group delivered 3,806 vehicles in the third quarter of 2026 and built 2,954, the company said on Monday. Deliveries fell 6.7% from the 4,078 Lucid delivered in the same quarter last year and 3.7% from the 3,953 it delivered in the second quarter. Production dropped 38% from the 4,774 vehicles Lucid built between April and June.

Lucid delivered 852 more cars than it built, which the company describes as the planned conversion of finished inventory into customer deliveries. Lucid ended the second shift at its AMP-1 plant in Casa Grande, Arizona, in June, the same month it cut 18% of its U.S. workforce, and it is now building at a pace well below what it sells.

In the first quarter Lucid built 5,500 vehicles and delivered 3,093. In the second it built 4,774 and delivered 3,953.

Lucid Has Built 2,376 More Cars This Year Than It Has Delivered

Lucid’s three quarterly reports for 2026 add up to 13,228 vehicles produced and 10,852 delivered, a gap of 2,376 cars. The third quarter’s 852-vehicle drawdown recovered about a quarter of the inventory Lucid built up in the first half, when production ran ahead of deliveries by 3,228 vehicles.

Not all of that gap is cars on a lot. Since the first quarter Lucid has counted every vehicle built at AMP-1 in its production figure, including the ones shipped to Saudi Arabia for final assembly, so some of the 2,376 are in transit. Lucid does not say how many.

That is the stock Lucid is now selling through. Its August 4 second-quarter results identified $1.4 billion in cash reductions for 2026, of which $600 million to $800 million is to come from inventory, about $500 million from capital spending and about $200 million from operating expenses. The company also said then that it had deliberately reduced output to match demand and turn inventory into cash. Monday’s figures are the first full quarter without the second shift.

Production will not rebound quickly. The second shift Lucid ended in June was the one it added in late 2025 to reach a fourth-quarter build target, and Lucid said on Monday that the sequential decline in output was consistent with that shift’s elimination.

Wall Street Expected Almost 900 More Deliveries

Analysts polled by Visible Alpha expected 4,687 deliveries and 3,709 vehicles built, Reuters reported. Lucid missed on deliveries by 881 and on production by 755. Deliveries have now fallen year over year in two of 2026’s three quarters: the first quarter’s 3,093 was below the 3,109 of a year earlier.

Lucid guided to 25,000 to 27,000 vehicles for the year in February and suspended that guidance in June after Silvio Napoli took over as CEO. In June I expected a lower number to replace it with the second-quarter results. None came: the August release carries no 2026 forecast. With 10,852 deliveries through September, matching last year’s 15,841 would require 4,989 deliveries in the fourth quarter. Lucid’s best quarter to date was 5,345 at the end of 2025, when it still had the second shift and a 2025 production target to defend.

Lucid said demand for the Lucid Gravity “continued to regain momentum” during the quarter. The release gives no split between the Gravity SUV and the Lucid Air sedan, so the claim cannot be checked against the delivery figure. The Gravity’s shipments stalled for 29 days in the first quarter over a supplier seat defect, which is the momentum Lucid is measuring against.

Lucid Reports Full Results On November 9

Lucid will report third-quarter financial results on Monday, November 9, 2026, with a call at 2:30 p.m. PT (5:30 p.m. ET), according to the production and deliveries release. Shareholders can submit questions through Say Technologies from October 23 to November 6, and management will answer a selection on the call.

The company reported $3.0 billion in total liquidity at the end of June and said its financing and cost measures gave it runway well into 2027. The November report will show how much of the $600 million to $800 million inventory target the third-quarter drawdown delivered, and whether the unit count that remains, roughly 2,400 cars built this year and not yet sold, is shrinking fast enough to matter.

EVXL’s Take

Lucid is calling this a planned inventory reduction, and it is. But the inventory exists because Lucid ran production 3,228 cars ahead of deliveries in the first half of the year. Running that far ahead of demand for six months earns no credit for fixing it in the seventh.

When Lucid delivered 3,093 vehicles in April, I wrote that the company would deliver fewer than 22,000 in 2026. It now needs more than 11,000 in the fourth quarter to prove me wrong, double its best quarter ever, with one shift. The question I care about now is lower: whether Lucid can hold deliveries flat against 2025 at all. At 3,806 a quarter it cannot, and the Gravity momentum line in Monday’s release, offered without a single Gravity number, does not change that math.

The Lucid Cosmos is the product that fixes the demand side, and it is not in this year’s numbers. Until it is, every Lucid quarter is going to look like this one: fewer cars built and sold, with a cash target doing the work the product cannot.
