Unveiling the Future: The Lucid Gravity SUV
The Lucid Gravity SUV, revealed at the Los Angeles auto show, is turning heads with its impressive design and groundbreaking features. Lucid, the California-based electric vehicle maker known for the Lucid Air sedan, is setting high standards with its latest creation. The Gravity SUV not only addresses the ergonomic issues of its predecessor but also offers significantly more passenger and cargo space.
Advanced Technology and Exceptional Performance
Lucid remains tight-lipped about many specifications of the Gravity. However, it’s confirmed that the SUV incorporates “the next generation of Lucid’s proprietary, ultra-compact powertrain technology.” With a 900-volt architecture, the Gravity promises fast charging speeds, potentially matching the Air’s 300kW.
Performance-wise, it’s expected to reach 60mph in under 3.5 seconds and boasts a towing capacity of 6,000 pounds.

A key highlight is the Gravity’s estimated range. Lucid aims for at least 440 miles on a single charge, surpassing Tesla‘s Model X by over 100 miles. This ambitious goal is consistent with Lucid’s history of achieving exceptional real-world mileage.
Design: Aerodynamic and Aesthetic
The Gravity’s design closely mirrors the Air, featuring a similar hatch and roofline. It boasts an impressive drag coefficient of 0.24, making it highly aerodynamic, especially for an SUV. This design contributes to its remarkable efficiency and range.
Spacious and Innovative Interior
Inside the Gravity, space and innovation are evident. It offers three rows for seven passengers, and when the second and third rows are folded, it provides 112 cubic feet of cargo space. The substantial ‘frunk’ (front trunk) adds more storage and doubles as a seating area. The front seatbacks come with fold-down tray tables, enhancing passenger comfort and convenience.

The dashboard is dominated by a 34-inch curved display, with a secondary screen for the vehicle’s main functions. This setup represents a significant improvement over the Air’s interface, with Lucid committed to continuous software enhancements, including over-the-air updates.
Looking Ahead: Availability and Variants
The Gravity is reportedly slated for a late 2024 release, barring any delays. Initially presented in a Dream Edition launch spec, future variants could include Pure, Touring, Grand Touring, and even a three-motor, 1,234hp Sapphire version. Prices for the base model are expected to start “under $80,000” in the US.
In conclusion, the Lucid Gravity is poised to make a significant impact in the EV market, offering an unparalleled blend of style, space, and sustainability. As we anticipate its arrival, the Gravity sets a new benchmark in electric vehicle innovation.
