GM’s journey in the electric vehicle landscape started with the Chevy Volt in 2010, followed by the Chevy Bolt in 2016. While both cars received praise, the Bolt faced challenges due to battery fire incidents, which were later resolved. Despite these hurdles, GM remains committed to an all-electric future, though the timeline has extended.

The car will be built on the Ultium platform and feature LFP (lithium iron phosphate) batteries, which are expected to reduce costs. The Bolt will be assembled at GM’s Kansas factory, currently producing the Chevy Malibu.
