特斯拉‘s upcoming V4 Supercharger stations are about to take EV charging to new heights, with support for up to 500kW charging for passenger EVs and a massive 1.2MW capability for Tesla 半自动 trucks, according to recent permit filings, reports The Verge.
Major Power Boost Coming
The next evolution of Tesla’s charging network isn’t just about new stalls – it’s a complete system overhaul. While V4 stalls started appearing in 欧洲 and select US locations last year, they’ve been limited to V3’s 250kW max output. These new stations will finally unlock the V4’s full potential when they launch in 2025.
What’s New with V4
The upgraded stations feature built-in payment terminals and longer charging cables designed to better accommodate non-Tesla EVs without causing parking issues. They’ll come equipped with integrated CCS connectors, eliminating the need for adapters. The new power cabinet design is more efficient too, capable of powering up to 8 stalls while delivering twice the charging speed potential compared to V3 stations.
Big Win for Non-Tesla EVs
This is huge news for owners of high-voltage EVs from 保时捷, 现代汽车和 起亚 who’ve been getting slower charging speeds at V3 stations. The upgraded voltage capabilities mean these vehicles can finally charge at their full potential on Tesla’s network.
EVXL’s Take
This is exactly the kind of infrastructure upgrade the EV industry needs. Tesla’s leadership in charging technology continues to push boundaries, and the inclusion of features specifically designed to improve the experience for non-Tesla EVs shows they’re serious about supporting widespread EV adoption. Recent coverage of 保时捷 Taycan charging speeds at V3 stations has highlighted the need for higher voltage support, and these V4 stations directly address that limitation.
