Tesla Cybertruck Matches Sales of All Other Electric Pickups in July

Tesla’s Cybertruck is turning heads, not just for its design but for its sales numbers. In July, the Cybertruck’s deliveries matched the combined sales of every other electric pickup truck on the market, reports Automotive News.

Cybertruck Takes the Lead in Electric Pickup Market

According to new data from S&P Global, Tesla delivered 5,175 Cybertrucks in July. That’s an impressive feat, especially when you consider that all other electric pickups—including models from Rivian, Ford, Chevrolet, and GMC—also totaled 5,175 deliveries combined. The Cybertruck is clearly making a significant impact in the EV truck segment.

Tesla’s Market Share Remains Strong Despite Slight Dip

Overall, EV registrations in July rose to 118,273 vehicles, up from 100,620 a year earlier. Battery-powered vehicles now make up 8.5% of the U.S. light vehicle market, a 0.9% increase from last year. Tesla commanded a 48% share of these deliveries, a slight decrease from the 56% share it held the previous year. Despite this dip, holding nearly half the market is still a dominant position.

Other Automakers Making Gains in EV Market

Non-Tesla EV registrations increased by 38% compared to the same time last year. Hyundai Motor Group registered 10,846 vehicles across its Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis brands, securing second place. General Motors came in third with 9,767 registrations, followed closely by Ford with 9,504.

Rivian Faces Challenges Amid Factory Shutdown

Rivian’s R1S crossover saw an 18% drop in July registrations compared to the previous year, totaling 1,545 vehicles.

Combined registrations for Rivian’s R1S and R1T pickup were down 0.3% to 2,522 vehicles. Rivian’s production was impacted by a factory shutdown in Normal, Illinois, in April for retooling.

Meanwhile, Kia’s EV9 surpassed the R1S with 1,960 registrations in the same month.
