Tesla’s V4 Superchargers Make Canadian Debut in British Columbia

Tesla has officially launched its fastest V4 Superchargers in Canada, marking a significant expansion of its charging infrastructure. The first Canadian V4 Supercharger station opened in Langley, British Columbia, as announced by Tesla Charging on X (formerly Twitter).

Langley Bypass: Home to Canada’s First V4 Superchargers

The new V4 Supercharger station is located at the Langley Bypass shopping center, featuring 16 charging stalls. This site became operational on August 30, 2024, signaling Tesla’s commitment to enhancing its charging network across North America.

V4 Superchargers: Faster Charging and Enhanced Compatibility

While the V4 Superchargers maintain the same 250 kW maximum charging speed as their V3 predecessors, they bring notable improvements:

  1. Increased amperage: The current rating has jumped over 30% from 425 to 615 amps.
  2. Support for 800-volt architectures: This upgrade paves the way for potentially faster charging speeds in the future.
  3. Magic Dock feature: First introduced in Europe, this allows non-Tesla EVs to use the chargers through Combined Charging System (CCS) compatibility.

“First V4 post in Canada 🇨🇦 With many more to come!” Tesla Charging announced on X, hinting at further expansion plans across the country.

Tesla’s Charging Network: A Competitive Edge

The Supercharger network remains one of Tesla’s key advantages in the EV market. Known for its reliability, extensive coverage, and rapid charging capabilities, the network now caters to multiple EV brands, further solidifying Tesla’s position in the industry.
