Earlier today, Rivian shared a short video on X (formerly Twitter) announcing that “R1S with Max pack is now available to configure for Dual-Motor variants, with deliveries starting soon.”

offers a trio of battery options for both the RT1 and RS1 models: Standard, Large, and Max. With the Max battery configuration, the R1S boasts an estimated EPA range of up to 400 miles, while the R1T can achieve a remarkable 410 miles.

Although the precise kWh rating for the Max pack remains undisclosed, it’s speculated that the Max pack hovers around 180kWh.

Rivian has officially unveiled the availability of its Max pack on both the social media platform X and its official website, prominently featured within the specifications.

EV news outlet, Electrek, confirmed the development, stating, “Rivian made an official announcement that the Max Pack is indeed now available on R1S, with deliveries starting this fall, and deliveries have just started of Max pack R1Ts.”

Opting for the Max pack will command a premium of $10,000 over the Large pack and an increase of $16,000 from the Standard package.

Naturally, given Rivian’s recent integration into ‘s , questions arise about the necessity of a battery pack offering over 400 miles of range. On the other hand, if you do extensive offroading, towing or live in a colder climate, a large battery pack may be a necessity.
