Tesla continues to grow its charging infrastructure, announcing a new Supercharger station in Rockaway, New Jersey. The news was shared by the Tesla Charging account on X (formerly Twitter).
Location Details
The new Supercharger is situated on Green Pond Road in Rockaway, NJ. It boasts 12 charging stalls, significantly boosting the area’s EV charging capacity. The station is located at the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Rockaway at 14 Green Pond Rd, Rockaway NJ 07866.
Charging Capabilities
This Supercharger station is equipped with 12 Superchargers capable of delivering up to 250kW of power. It’s available 24/7, providing round-the-clock charging access for Tesla owners and other compatible EVs.
Non-Tesla EV Compatibility
In an interesting development, this Supercharger is open to non-Tesla EVs as well. The station supports NACS (North American Charging Standard) enabled vehicles with CCS compatibility. However, these vehicles will require a NACS adapter to charge at this Supercharger.
Charging Fees
For non-Tesla EV owners, the charging fee is set at $0.39/kWh. There’s also an idle fee of up to $1/min for vehicles left connected after charging is complete, encouraging efficient use of the chargers.
Strategic Location
The new Supercharger’s location appears strategic, situated near major routes and populated areas. The map provided shows it’s conveniently located near Interstate 80, making it easily accessible for travelers and locals alike.
EVXL’s Take
This expansion of Tesla’s Supercharger network in New Jersey is part of a larger trend we’re seeing across the land. As discussed in our recent Tesla coverage, the company continues to lead the way in building out robust charging infrastructure.
This move not only benefits Tesla owners but also other EV drivers, thanks to the NACS compatibility. It’s a significant step towards making long-distance EV travel more feasible and convenient, potentially accelerating EV adoption in the region.
