Yet, determined thieves see the challenge in evading these measures. Rather than enjoying a stolen Tesla’s ride, most criminals resell the stripped parts on the black or grey market. And here’s the kicker: to ensure that the stolen cars remain undetected, they’re disabling the internal GPS devices, an act that is more effective than merely jamming the signal.

However, there’s a silver lining. The Portland Police Bureau (PPB) reports a victory against this trend. The PPB’s Stolen Vehicle Unit successfully dismantled the theft operation, recovering four Tesla EVs in a weekend-long operation.
