Tesla Collides with Firetruck in Latest of Series of Accidents

Last Wednesday, a vehicle collided with a Fremont Fire Engine on Interstate-680 in Fremont, marking the latest in a series of recent Tesla-related accidents, according to the Highway Patrol (CHP). The Tesla reportedly crashed into the fire truck after being rear-ended by a , disrupting the flow of traffic on I-680.

As of now, it remains unclear whether the Tesla was in driver assist mode during the time of the accident. Information regarding any potential injuries resulting from the crash was not immediately available.

This accident follows a tragic incident last week in Santa Clara involving another Tesla, which ended in the loss of two lives. A 44-year-old woman from Los Gatos and her 12-year-old daughter were killed in a fiery crash when their vehicle struck a tree. A witness reported to KRON4 that he reached the vehicle’s door within seconds of the collision but was greeted with an overwhelming sight of flames.

Earlier this year, a similar incident occurred involving a 2014 Tesla and a fire truck on I-680. The Tesla, traveling at 71 mph, crashed, resulting in the death of the driver. According to crash data from the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration, “the vehicle was on self-drive mode when the crash happened.”

These recent crashes put a spotlight on the safety of Tesla’s driver-assist features and renew questions about the readiness of self-driving technology for public roads. As investigations continue, the public and authorities alike eagerly await answers.
