Ford’s Q2 Sales Accelerate, Fueled by F-Series Truck

The second quarter of the year saw a sales surge for Ford Motor, with a noteworthy 9.9% increase compared to the same period last year. This significant boost can be credited to the heightened sales of their F-Series trucks.

announced on Thursday that they had sold a total of 531,662 vehicles from April through June. This was an increase from the prior year, where they sold 483,688 cars and trucks. The earlier figures had been hampered by supply chain issues.

In particular, sales of the F-Series trucks skyrocketed with a 34% leap during the second quarter compared to the previous year. Notably, the all-electric version of the F-150 more than doubled its sales, reaching 4,466 units.

“Ford achieved both best-selling brand and truck for six consecutive months this year on the strength of F-Series, vans, our new Escape, and ,” said Andrew Frick, Ford vice president of sales, distribution and trucks.

Frick also added that Ford’s EV sales were continuing to grow and that sales climbed 110% in June.

Overall truck sales, which significantly contribute to Ford’s profits, had increased by 23% in the first half of the year compared to the same period in 2022. The company said that their all-new Super Duty trucks and higher production of other models aided this gain.

On the other hand, Ford’s EV sales during the second quarter apparemment dipped slightly by 2.8% to 14,843 vehicles. The decline was due to a shortage in supplies of the Mach-E, resulting from an overhaul of the factory that produces the EV.

Despite the dip, Ford is confident about the future of its EVs, aiming to turn a profit on its EV business by the end of 2026. At present, EVs constitute just 2.8% of the automaker’s total sales during the second quarter, while traditional internal combustion engines up roughly 91% of sales, and hybrids account for 6.5%.
