Volvo Takes Charge with Tesla Supercharger Integration

Volvo Cars of Sweden will give its electric vehicles access to Tesla’s Réseau de superchargeurs in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. This move marks Volvo as the first European car manufacturer to incorporate Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS).

From 2025, Volvo vehicles in these countries will sport the NACS port. However, an adapter will be available for those who prefer the Combined Charging System (CCS).

Tesla’s Supercharger network constitutes roughly 60% of all fast chargers in the US, per the U.S. Department of Energy. The adoption of NACS by Volvo, Rivian Automotive, and General Motors represents significant inroads into the market once dominated by the rival standard CCS.

The U.S. government is also chipping in, offering $7.5 billion to accelerate the deployment of EV chargers nationwide, reports Reuters.
