Los prototipos del Model 3 Highland de Tesla invaden Nueva Zelanda

Tesla’s up-and-coming Model 3, also known as “Highland,” seems to have taken an exciting leap forward. According to spy photos shared by a user, MarkusNZL, on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum, Tesla appears to have shipped a collection of Highland prototypes to New Zealand. The motive is likely for winter testing at the Southern Hemisphere Proving Grounds (SHPG), a spot the Austin-based automaker frequently uses when Alaskan conditions don’t fit the bill.

The images offer glimpses of multiple Tesla models, including a camouflaged Cybertruck, the brand’s expansive lineup of passenger cars, and intriguingly, a couple of Highland prototypes.

There seems to be heightened security around the area, limiting the extent of information gathered. As MarkusNZL noted, one of the Cybertrucks lacked a vinyl wrap but bore the number “512” on its side, crafted from blue tape.

This batch of images, along with Elon Musk’s comment at May’s shareholder meeting about Tesla launching two new products, hints at significant progress on the Highland model. Musk’s statement, along with a silhouette of a Model 3-like vehicle, fueled speculations about the potential reveal of the refreshed Model 3 alongside the new Cybertruck in the third quarter, possibly September.

However, until Tesla confirms these assumptions, they remain just that – assumptions. But we can anticipate some features based on previous reports. The new Model 3 is expected to sport a redesigned front and back end, possibly featuring vertical indicator lights rather than the current horizontal amber lights.

Reportedly, the Highland will be more manufacturing-friendly, with fewer parts required in its assembly. This simplification could result in a lower starting price for Tesla’s most affordable EV.

As we wait for official updates, feel free to share your thoughts on this development in the comments section below. Tesla seems to be forging ahead at full speed, and we’re eager to see what they unveil next.
