Saudi EV Maker Ceer Partners with Rimac for High-Performance Electric Powertrains

Saudi Arabia’s first electric vehicle manufacturer Ceer is taking a major step forward in its EV development through a new partnership with Rimac Technology to supply advanced Electric Drive Systems (EDS) for its upcoming flagship vehicles.

Strategic Partnership Details

The agreement, signed on October 17th at Rimac’s headquarters in Croatia, marks Rimac’s first venture into the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. Ceer, a joint venture between Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and Foxconn, is positioning itself to make waves in the Middle Eastern EV market.

“We are delighted to be the first company and large-scale project in the GCC to partner with Rimac Technology,” said Ceer CEO James DeLuca, highlighting their commitment to “delivering world-class, high-performance electric vehicles and revolutionize the automotive industry in Saudi Arabia.”

Rimac’s Growing Industry Presence

This collaboration represents a significant evolution for Rimac Technology, which has previously focused on limited-volume, high-performance projects like the Rimac Nevera and Aston Martin Valkyrie. The company has been expanding its reach, recently announcing a partnership with BMW for high-voltage battery systems.

Mate Rimac, Founder and CEO of Rimac Group, emphasized the company’s growing global influence: “This year alone we’ve announced several key partnerships… which will result in the production of tens of thousands of electric drive systems and battery systems for leading OEMs worldwide.”

EVXL’s Take

The partnership between Ceer and Rimac represents a significant shift in the Middle Eastern automotive landscape. Following recent coverage of BMW’s electrification efforts, this collaboration shows how emerging markets are partnering with established EV technology leaders to accelerate their transition to electric mobility. The involvement of Rimac, known for their high-performance electric powertrains, suggests Ceer is aiming to produce premium EVs that can compete on a global scale.
