Kentucky Powers Up with Tesla’s Charging Plug

Kentucky is trailblazing in the world of electric vehicles. The state is now demanding that all charging companies include Tesla’s plug to participate in a state initiative. This project, which leverages federal funds, aims to electrify highways. Kentucky’s move makes it the first to require Tesla’s charging technology. Texas and Washington have expressed similar intentions, reports Reuters.

Kentucky’s plan came into effect on Friday. It insists that along with the required Combined Charging System (CCS), charging stations must feature Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) plug.

“Each port must be equipped with an SAE CCS 1 connector. Each port shall also be capable of connecting to and charging vehicles equipped with charging ports compliant with the North American Charging Standard (NACS)”, the state’s documents reveal.

This development may be a game-changer in the EV industry, demonstrating Kentucky’s commitment to a greener future.
